Beats EP Headphones: Our Opinion After Testing Them
Affordable, good sound quality, attractive design, comfortable.
They are not wireless and don't have a folding structure. Can get uncomfortable during prolonged sessions.
Technical characteristics of Beats EP headphones:
- Type: Supraural /On-Ear.
- Colors: White, Black, Blue, Red
- Weight: 320 grams.
The Beats EP are the brand's most affordable headphones. They offer a very well balanced sound, have an iconic design, good build quality and are available for a very attractive price. After testing them in our studio, we can say that the Beats EP music headphones are the best value Beats headphones.
Beats EPs have a modern industrial design that is recognizable anywhere. The build quality is very decent for this price range, and they are very attractive. The band and cups are made of the same plastic found in more expensive Beats headphones. They also feature the same padding. Once on, they are comfortable and lightweight (200g).
Beats EP stand out for their price/performance ratio. However, they have their cons. After wearing them for a while, they begin to exert an uncomfortable pressure on the head. Also, the cable doesn't seem as sturdy as the body and it's not removable, so if it gets damaged you'll need to buy another pair of Beats EP. They fit on the ears very well, but the padding of the cups is not the most comfortable.
Beats EP headphones have a closed-type on-ear design. They are portable, although we regret that they don't have a foldable structure. The chassis are reinforced with stainless steel and are resistant. You can take them anywhere, but keep in mind that they don't have protection against water or sweat. They come with a soft carrying case.
Beats EP headphones don't work with Bluetooth technology, and you can only connect them to your devices via 3.5mm audio cables. Beats EPs integrate a small control module in the cable with three buttons that allow you to change volume, play/pause and answer calls.
The three buttons are easy to access, react very well to touch and are well separated from each other. Through the remote control, you can also access a personal assistant such as Siri.
Beats EP headphones sound quality
These Beats headphones are simple and lack innovative features, but they sound great for the price. The sound profile of the Beats EP is better balanced than other more expensive models from the company. The bass is solid, strong and controlled. The treble is clear, consistent and the different instruments are well defined. The mid tones have a good presence and response, although they get a little lost in certain pieces with many instruments.
They sound better than several competing models, and offer good performance when playing any genre of music. The level of harmonic distortion is excellent for this price range. They distort a little at maximum volume level, but it's not annoying. The sound spatiality is not the best, but this is normal due to the closed design. They also don't isolate sound very well due to the On-Ear cups.
Beats headphones have a reputation for delivering overblown bass for a very high price, but the Beats EP are an exception. It's hard to find headphones that sound this good in this price range. They don't offer active noise cancellation or advanced features, but the cable buttons feel and respond well.
They are simple, robust and attractive On-Ear headphones. They have the iconic and recognizable design of all Beats headphones and pretty decent build quality. They offer bass that can satisfy bass lovers and a very well-balanced sound profile. If you don't need Bluetooth connectivity and are looking for an attractive headset, the Beats EP is an excellent choice. Interested? Find the best price on Amazon.
